I was in the mall yesterday and I was struck by a thought when looking at the fashions of the day on display in stores and on the people walking by. I don't like many of the elements of what is in fashion today.
I never did, nor do I yet, like wide pant legs.
I HATE sandles on men, especially worn with long pants...to say nothing of flip flops.
I like jeans or chinos, and dislike cargo pants.
I like dock-siders (without socks when warm enough) and don't think I have seen anyone under 35 wearing them in public in about a decade.
On the infrequent occasion that I go to the theatre, I am pulled by invisible powers toward wearing a jacket, while most of the theatre is "dressing up with a sweater" at best, and wearing t-shirts at worst.
I could go on, but you get what I mean.
So what does this mean? I am just really old and still trend toward those things I liked in my youth, or do we all adopt a personal style, keeping those things over time that we like and picking up only those new things that we also like? Having just turned 40 this year, I prefer to think the later...
