Will Hamas "go to China?"

Many of the world's great steps forward in diplomacy and peace making have come from a previous hawk going to the side of raprochemont. This is one reason why Yitzak Rabin and Ariel Sharon were able to bring Israel to the peace table. Nixon went to China. Reagan negotiated START with Gorbachev, etc...

Now we are a long way from Hamas coming to the table (or even being allowed to come to the table, OR disavowing using the table to beat Isreal to a bloody pulp), but maybe they can use their credibility with the palestinian on the street to do something good.

Let's not forget that Fatah was not born as a peaceful negotiator. They were a faction of the PLO and used to be called terrorists...Hope might look to a day when Hamas will renounce violence and move forward.

Has anyone noticed how little we see Dennis Hastert doing anything? There was just this big to do over replacing Tom Delay as Majority leader in the house...but very little from or about the Speaker and his role in the majority. I remember back when the speaker was the defacto leader of the majority. Does anyone remember who was majority leader when Gingrich was speaker?
